Estancia Los Potreros
Fancy trying something completely different? Estancia Los Potreros is a world-renowned horse-riding/hospitality estancia in the heart of rural Argentina. With over 100 horses, we welcome guests from across the world to experience our beautiful trail riding, and also offer beginner/novice polo. We are a working cattle/stud farm. We are looking for volunteers from mid-June 2015, minimum period 3 months. Volunteers form an important part of our team, as we entrust the safety and well-being of both our horses and our guests into their hands, and guides become an important part of the guest experience. Horse duties can include: back up rider, horse care, tack cleaning, assisting at polo sessions, handling young stock, treatment of ailments. Guides normally ride at least once per day. Guest duties can include: hosting guests at meal times, cooking breakfast, serving tea/meals, pool cleaning etc.
Minimum requirements are: – 21 years old and over – 13 stone and under – competent and confident riders with a secure seat and soft hands, able to mount from the ground – fluent in English – non-smokers and meat-eaters
Successful guides are also generally: – hard working and flexible – independent, resilient and resourceful by nature – highly sociable, comfortable in all types of company – have previous experience of the service/tourism industry Speaking some Spanish is advantageous, but not essential.
We provide full board and lodging; transport to/from Buenos Aires to Cordoba; weekly Spanish lessons; chance to learn/improve polo; share of tips; share of shop sales. Volunteers must finance their own travel to Argentina/personal insurance.
