Fishing Creek Farms welcomes applications for the position of Upland Wingshooting Guide to join our team for next season, 2025/2026. The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of wild bird hunting, with the use of point and flush dogs. Applicant should prioritize professionalism and positive client engagement, while ensuring a safe and enjoyable hunt.
This position starts in early December, and runs thru mid-March. This position will operate in rotation with our existing guide staff. Responsibilities include organizing and leading half and full-day upland quail hunts of the highest caliber. In addition to guiding, each outdoor staff member is expected to assist with kennel duties, bird cleaning and packaging, and other outside duties as they arise when not guiding.
Compensation includes a competitive salary based on experience and a share in the tip pool. All staff members are considered contractors and compensated on a 1099. Applicant will be provided on site housing (private room-single or double occupancy) with shared common area. Lunch and dinner are provided when guests are in-house. Outside staff are responsible for their own breakfast; however, ingredients are provided. Given the shared areas of staff quarters, a positive attitude, teamwork and cleanliness are valued attributes.
Applicants are expected to furnish their own guide gear, including boots, dog collars, and outerwear. FCF logo shirts and hats are provided. Dogs that are required for this position will be provided by the lodge. Fishing Creek Farms conducts background checks and drug testing prior to confirming a contract. Prospective candidates must demonstrate their abilities with the dogs and hunt organization skills with the Owner and a member of our guide staff. We WILL NOT hire this position without a face-to-face interview.
Responsibilities:
- Guiding clients on upland quail hunts
- Walking thru diverse terrain for up to 6 hours per day
- Lifting up to 60 pounds
- Handling and lifting bird dogs
- Fulfilling various guest needs
- Equipment cleaning and maintenance
- Care, feeding, cleaning of bird dogs and kennels
- Cleaning of birds and facilities
- Operating and assisting with 5-Stand operation and maintenance
- General tasks of a hunting lodge operation

- Clean, tidy and professional appearance and cleanliness
- Must provide own guide gear (uniform shirts and hats provided), dog collars and outerwear

- Possess first aid and CPR certification
