Circle Z Ranch will be filling a Cook / Prep position start as soon as possible. This position will begin on February 2025 and end late-April 2025.

We are seeking an individual that can meet our high standards of delicious, homemade meals while incorporating their own recipes. We serve a variety of cuisines, and special diets including Allergies, Vegan, Vegetarian, Asian, Mexican, Italian, etc. We provide an assortment of Circle Z tried and true recipes that are the building blocks for your weekly menus and are open to trying new recipes upon approval.

The Cook /Prep position will require exceptional communication and organization skills, as well as the ability to perform multiple culinary skills including, cooking, baking, prepping, following a set budget, planning, etc.

Essential Functions:

Control Budget per meal
Ability to prepare meals for large groups (30 and over)
Ability to efficiently adjust to last minute changes
Comply with Sant Cruz County Health Department requirements
Establish a two-week rotation menu with supervisor
Review food costs with supervisor
May be asked to obtain all necessary provisions and supplies
Ensure proper presentation of meals
Serve meals to guests and answer food inquiries
Coordinate with supervisor on matters such as using the dishwasher for cutting boards and bleach buckets
Wash your own pots and pans in cook cleaning station
Cook assigned meals as directed by supervisor
Keep kitchen, walk-in, freezer and dry storage clean and orderly by wiping down equipment after use, and putting away left overs in labeled containers
Leave kitchen immaculate for next shift
Attend staff and department meetings

Physical Requirements:

The position requires excellent physical condition and stamina. Hours tend to be irregular and long. Extended periods or work without time off may be required.
Holidays will require additional work hours.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED
3-5 years’ experience cooking as a lead or head chef in guest ranches or restaurants
Culinary Arts certificate
