Cedar Cove Ranch (www.CedarCoveRanch.com) is seeking a Wildlife and Hunting Operations Manager for our gorgeous 700-acre resort in East Texas. We are a small, growing business looking for a hard-working, motivated individual who enjoys hospitality management and ranch operations, loves the outdoors, and excels at working with guests.

Job Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating daily wildlife operations, hospitality, and working with other staff members while adhering to a high level of customer service. You will play a crucial role in managing our wildlife and hunting grounds, guiding hunts, and overseeing various ranch operations.

Note: Previous experience working at a hunting ranch in an Operations Management position is REQUIRED for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Hunting Operations

  • Coordinate daily hunting operations and hospitality services
  • Manage hunting grounds for deer and hogs, and guide hunts
  • Develop and implement hunting operations calendar
  • Manage hunting P&L and optimize operations
  • Oversee wildlife management and inventory
  • Work with wildlife biologists, TPWD, and adhere to state regulations
  • Coordinate with taxidermists and meat processors
  • Develop and execute animal purchase plans with breeders
  • Manage hunting blinds, stands, game cameras, and grounds
  • Implement hunting-related projects
  • Oversee food crop and feed management

Guest Services and Hospitality

  • Plan guest itineraries and coordinate activities with the General Manager
  • Lead hunting/company guest services coordination
  • Provide support for other retreat activities as needed
  • Attend to guest complaints professionally and promptly
  • Act as Ranch Concierge, selling and executing activities and event coordination
  • Provide tours to potential guests (events/weddings)
  • Coordinate and lead activities such as shooting sports, water activities, UTV rides, and fishing
  • Staff Management and Training
  • Guide and motivate the ranch staff on daily/weekly/monthly tasks
  • Train guides and ranch hand staff
  • Develop and implement necessary SOPs
  • Coordinate guides and staff as necessary

Equipment and Facility Management

  • Manage firearms and related equipment
  • Oversee maintenance of blinds, feeders, fencing, and other hunting-related structures
  • Manage shooting range, zero range, and clay shooting facilities
  • Oversee fishing equipment, boats, and gear
  • Support equipment maintenance planning
  • Operate and maintain large tractors and implements (box blade, batwing mower, disc harrow, tiller/cedar/cultipacker, etc.)

Business Development

  • Support sales and bookings, including upselling and proactive sales
  • Assist with sportsmen marketing, attending conferences, events, and developing business relationships
  • Support the development of future goals/strategies for hunting/sportsmen activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, wildlife management, or a relevant field (preferred)
  • At least 5 years of experience working in the Hunting Operations industry
  • Exceptional knowledge of standard hospitality practices and procedures
  • Extensive experience in hunting operations and guiding
  • Fishing and other shooting sports experience
  • Ability to be proactive, lead, motivate, and communicate with staff members
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in conflict resolution and building customer relationships
  • Valid driver’s license and clean background check
  • Heavy Equipment Knowledge & experience
  • Willingness to work weekends, weekdays, and holidays as required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform simple handyman work
  • Capable of heavy lifting
  • Proficient in operating various equipment (tractors, UTVs, boats, chainsaws, etc.)
  • Able to walk long distances (5+ miles at a time for guided hunts)
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
