LWF North
LWF North is a 1,200-acre property striving for the best outdoor experience possible. We maintain a robust white-tailed and red deer herd, and the property is managed accordingly. The manager would have the opportunity to participate in and oversee all work activities involving LWF’s on-going management program.
Responsibilities:
Overseeing all day-to-day ranch activities which may include, but are not limited to:
- Keeping a detailed log of white-tailed and red deer on the property
- Performing an annual camera survey to get counts of animals and estimates of recruitment
- Maintaining harvest logs of animals harvested
- Maintaining harvest logs of predators harvested
- Using tractors to maintain the fields, plant food plots, and clear brush
- Planting spring and fall food plots
- Coordinating the cutting of hay on food plots to store for winter browse for deer
- Managing the property for healthy populations of white-tailed deer, red deer, turkey, bear, and other wildlife
- Setting proper property specific limits to ensure healthy buck to doe ratio of native and exotic species on the property
- Predator management
- Keeping feeders full and operational year round
- Checking and maintaining perimeter fence in all conditions
- Overseeing and managing small breeding pen
- Maintaining game cameras
- Keeping tree stands clean and in good condition
- Maintaining equipment in good working order
- Working with any sub-contractors as necessary
- Building and maintaining relationships with local vendors
- Invasive species control
- Guiding hunting guests
- Maintaining the lodge and main guest house
- Maintaining the grounds
- Researching and engaging in projects to better property (i.e., habitat, landscape aesthetics, disease and parasite management, etc.)
- Maintaining the privacy of both Ranch owners and guests
- Willing to fulfill special requests as needed
- Identifying problems and proactively coming up with solutions
- Filing yearly herd reports with the NY state and working with state official
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise CWD (Chronic Wasting Disease) testing requirements
- Manage employees/interns and other staff as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife & Fisheries, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Biology, or a similar field.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs minimum
- Must be a self-starter and hard worker
- Experience operating heavy equipment
- Detail oriented
- Familiar with dewormers, vaccinations, animals handling, etc.
