3 Bar S Ranch
The Ranch consists of 3,000 acres used mainly as a weekend recreational property for family and occasional guests. The ranch is managed mainly for wildlife, dove, quail, deer, turkeys, and we use cattle as both a revenue source and a means to keep grass under control. We have several feeders, food plots and blinds throughout the property.
The Ranch Manager’s main responsibility would be to maintain brush control, keep up with the road and yard mowing and to continue to improve the habitat for the benefit of the wildlife. The Ranch Manager would be responsible for overseeing the cattle operation and assist as needed. We have experienced day help, usually a couple days a week, who would report to the Ranch Manager. It is important that the ranch appearance be in top form, i.e., clean, well-mowed and in good order.
The job responsibilities would include but not necessarily be limited to:
• Facilities management and maintenance
• Pasture wildlife management
• Brush control via chemical and mechanical treatments
• Heavy equipment operation and maintenance: Dozer, Excavator and Tractors, Road Maintainer
• Shredding and mowing
• Maintaining yards and gardens
• Road maintenance
• Record keeping of wildlife and ranch projects
• Predator and feral hog control
• Filling feeders and ordering feed
• Planting food plots
• Fence repair and upkeep
• Caring for bird dogs
• Blind maintenance
• Water system maintenance and upkeep
• Guest relations and entertainment
• Guiding hunts and cleaning game
• Livestock care
• Working with the owner to enhance the ranch’s experience and overall health
Qualifications:
The Ranch was put together to provide a relaxing and enjoyable alternative to a city lifestyle. It is intended to provide an opportunity for both children and adults to participate in hunting and ranching activities in a relaxing and well-kept environment. The following skills would be helpful in continuing to maintain and improve the quality of the ranch:
• Previous ranch management or assistant ranch management experience
• Willing and able to work independently with little or no supervision and good communication skills
• Wildlife and agricultural background from education or life experience
• Experience with heavy equipment operation and maintenance
• Advanced in vehicle operation and maintenance
• Strong people and guest relations skills
• Knowledge in chemical plant treatments for food plots, noxious weeds, grasses and brush
• Chemical Applicators license a plus but not required
• Self-motivated and High Energy
• Independent type
• Welding and bird dog experience a plus
