Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled couple to manage a personal ranch in Kalispell, Montana. This is a unique opportunity to live and work on a private, family-owned ranch, where you will be responsible for managing daily operations, maintaining the property, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. The ideal couple will have a strong work ethic, a deep love for ranch life, and experience in both ranch management and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ranch Operations:
- Manage the upkeep of all buildings, equipment, roads, fences, and other infrastructure to ensure everything is in excellent working condition.
- Maintain water systems, gates, and fencing, and ensure that all ranch infrastructure is operating efficiently.
- Supervise and coordinate any seasonal tasks such as planting, irrigation, and haying.
Property Maintenance:
- Oversee regular maintenance and repair of the ranch’s physical assets, including vehicles, machinery, and buildings.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal, trail maintenance, and maintaining equipment and vehicles.
- Take responsibility for ensuring the ranch is always in excellent condition and ready for the owners to use at any time.
Guest and Event Services (if applicable):
- Occasionally accommodate friends or family guests with a welcoming experience, including providing ranch tours, assisting with recreational activities, or offering hospitality as needed.
- Manage any special events hosted on the property, such as family gatherings, private retreats, or other events coordinated by the owners.
Budget and Supply Management:
- Manage inventory and order supplies (tools, feed, etc.) while keeping the ranch within budget.
- Keep track of expenses and coordinate with the owners regarding financial matters such as repairs, purchases, and overall budgeting.
Seasonal and Special Projects:
- Participate in and manage seasonal tasks such as planting, harvesting, or wildlife management, as well as other special projects as directed by the owners.
- Proactively suggest improvements to the ranch and help implement long-term planning projects for future growth or enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in ranch management or agriculture, including livestock care, property maintenance, and equipment handling.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to perform manual labor and be self-sufficient in a rural environment.
- Experience in guest services or hospitality is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of sustainable ranching practices is a plus.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, depending on the needs of the ranch.
- Must be physically fit, resourceful, and willing to handle all aspects of ranch management.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and excellent communication with the ranch owners at all times.
- A love for nature and the rural lifestyle.
