Freedom Reigns Equine Sanctuary
Looking for experienced ranch manager/couple to manage 3,000+-acre horse ranch in Northern California. Care for the hundreds of wild and rescued horses is main priority along with upkeep of homes, land, outbuildings and equipment. Other ranch management duties include road maintenance, irrigation/well maintenance, weed & fire control, fence maintenance and wildlife management. We grow our own hay so management and participation in this process also required. This is an on-premise position that has irregular hours and requires the ability to self-motivate, work independently, supervise other employees and work with outside contractors and subs that come on property. Looking for couple who can build and maintain a positive team environment and who will operate with the best interest for the equines welfare.
This position is physically demanding and involves working with heavy tools and large equipment as well as the ability to lift & load bales of hay. Operation of the following equipment mandatory; John Deere tractor, bob cat and excavator. Other large equipment operation such as backhoe loader and motor grader a plus.
At least one applicant should have knowledge and experience of basic veterinary care to medicate, wrap and treat injured / sick horses. Prior experience with training and handling wild horses a plus.
Domestic work includes housekeeping and maintenance of residences, barns, shops and landscape.
Will not consider anyone without a resume and references. Competitive salary; dependent on experience. A newly built 3-bedroom house on property including all utilities and usage of ranch truck will be provided.
Previous ranch management experience required. Must have valid driver’s licenses, clean driving record, no criminal record or outstanding warrants, be non-smokers and drug free. Must be able to pass a background check.
Salary: $50k-$75k; depending on experience and skills
Years of Experience preferred: 8-10 yrs actual ranch management
