Sky Ranch
Seeking ranch manager couple for a long term management position. This is a position that requires strong leadership and management skills. Private horse property located on 24 acres in Hailey, Idaho. 2 bedroom/1 bath upstairs apartment above the barn, utilities included. Job is 7 days a week, hours vary. You are in charge of giving each other days off. Person/s are in charge of feeding and care of +/-12 horses and donkeys, sheep and indoor pets. We maintain our property to the highest standard and we expect our employees to do the same.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have riding experience, English or western, must have basic knowledge of horse health and care. Job includes but not limited to – trail rides, lungeing, meeting vets and farriers, giving ranch tours/have people skills, housesitting, daily mucking of pastures and stalls, maintaining and fixing fencing, groundskeeping, management skills organizing other pt employees, operate snow plow and blower, tractor, ATV and skid steer, shovel snow, confidently pull horse trailers, load hay bales, and administering medication. This is a hard job but also lots of flexibility, free time and perks. Ranch is located right inside town, 15 minutes from the famous Sun Valley ski resort, excellent hiking, mountain biking and riding trails.
Salary is based on experience and skills. Vacation pay and cash bonuses after 6 months of satisfactory performance. Health stipend after one year of employment.
Ranch also has a small equine rescue component, specializing in miniature horses and donkeys. Experience with donkey and driving/carting is a huge plus. Being a farrier or having trimming experience is a plus. Must be good with and love animals, have common sense and be a problem solver. Must be able to handle entire ranch for weeks at a time when owners are away. 2 barns, outbuildings and 1 home. Own vehicle is necessary but access to ranch vehicles as well. One horse and dog onsite is negotiable.
