Managerial and hands-on role for a 235 acre ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas. Responsible for working directly with Owner to plan and execute overall management of property and contractors/staff. Position requires heavy lifting, working with ranch and farm equipment, and working in extreme weather conditions. Must be able to work independently, anticipate needs, work well with others and manage projects and priorities effectively.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete oversight of ranch; properly maintaining residences, grounds, pastures, equipment, and animals
- Act as the point of contact and gatekeeper for Owner, providing regular updates on all activity on property
- Responsible for all ground maintenance including residences, landscape, hardscape, irrigation, buildings, barn, chicken coop, roads, gates and fencing
- Overall care and feeding of horses and chickens
- Schedule, manage and oversee all contractors; contact and screen new contractors as needed; maintain budget control and obtain multiple bids and track expenses
- Supervise and coordinate all onsite activities and provide day-to-day direction to employees and contractors
- Prepare realistic weekly and monthly plans and conduct regular walk throughs and maintenance checks
- Working knowledge of all household systems and ability to repair as needed. When necessary, schedule, supervise and maintain upkeep of all maintenance schedules for household contractors including: HVAC, electrician, plumbing, septic, wells, water system, A/V, etc
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment
- Responsible for protecting property in extreme weather conditions
ANIMALS
- Responsible for the general care and feeding of 5 horses and 20+ chickens
- Monitor health, address issues, maintain de-worming and other care schedules, work with vet as needed
- Keep detailed records for all animals
- Ensure protection in extreme weather conditions
OTHER
- Full housekeeping duties for all buildings; and preparation for Owner/Guest arrivals and departures
- Be available for emergency calls
- Predator control including coyotes, snakes and vermin
- Stocking pantries, food preparation and cooking
QUALIFICATIONS
- More than 10 years directly managing ranches of equivalent size
- Safely operate all heavy equipment including tractor, skid steer, truck, power and hand tools
- Able to work outdoors year-round in extreme weather
- Heavy lifting of 50 lbs or more
