Caldwell Ranch
We are seeking a Ranch Manager/Caretaker Couple to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of a 1,300-acre Brangus cow/calf ranch. The property is comprised of the main ranch house, guest house, caretaker house and barns. The manager will be responsible for routine maintenance and daily operation of the ranch. The caretaker will be responsible for the weekly cleaning and upkeep of the main ranch house, guest house and caretaker’s house. The caretaker will also help with occasional entertaining and cleanup at the main ranch house.
SKILL AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer 3+ years ranch management experience. Bachelor’s degree, along with growing up in ranching family, in relevant field would substitute for experience.
Must have experience in cattle care and management including nutrition requirements, breeding genetics, and cattle sales.
Self-starter, highly motivated, honest, strong work ethic, detail oriented, excellent record keeper and able to perform physically challenging tasks. Must be able to safely operate and perform routine maintenance on all ranching equipment including: tractors, shredders, gophers machines, D5 Bulldozer as well as all power and hand tools. Record will also need to be kept of maintenance schedules.
Must be able to manage all pastures as well as hay meadows based on soil analysis and subsequent fertilizer/weed control needs. Must have Pesticide/Herbicide Applicator’s license or be able to readily obtain.
Must be proficient in computer record keeping skills to include EXCEL, email and Microsoft Word.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage Brangus herd to include: cow and bull selection, fertility rates, calving success, supplemental feeding programs, sales and excellent record keeping. Maintenance of all fences, trees, pastures, equipment and building structures. Lawn and landscaping care of all ranch structures. Securing of outside contractors as needed along with any additional ranch labor needed for special projects. Schedule all fertilizer/weed control applications for pastures and hay meadows as well as baling of all hay production. Design, selection and distribution of supplemental cattle feeds as needed. Schedule all veterinary supplies and applications as needed to maintain healthy cattle.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation based on work experience along with 3BR, 2.5 bath, brick manager/caretaker’s home on fenced 1.6 acres within ranch. Resume and References will be required.
