XIT 1885
Ranch: Our family-owned regenerative ranch in Southern Colorado holistically manages our 230-acre ranch raising cattle, pigs, chickens, and ducks. Our ranch sits at an elevation of 7,500 feet at the base of the Spanish Peaks. We are actively looking to increase our acreage under management through purchase or lease. Our ranch’s infrastructure is in excellent condition and includes two houses, a yurt, a 10-stall horse barn and an indoor riding arena. We are hands-on owners who live full time on the ranch, but we also have off ranch responsibilities that require semi-frequent travel.
Ranch Operations: Currently, the ranch runs a grassfed stocker cattle program using rotational grazing strategies. We sell finished beef direct to consumer and wholesale. A cow/calf operation may begin as we have a desire to develop our own herd. The ranch has laying hens and laying ducks from which we sell the eggs. We have a few pigs that we will harvest next year. We lease hunting rights to a reputable outfitter and have private fishing for brown trout on 1mi of the Cucharas River. While we do not currently have horses, we are actively looking for kids’ and ranch horses. In the future it is possible that we start a kids’ riding program, but not certain. Friends and family also visit the ranch regularly. We plan to start a seasonal ranch stand as well as host guests for retreats and workshops.
Principal Functions: The RH is responsible for the day-to-day care of the animals, equipment, machines, land and infrastructure. RH is expected to work independently, prioritize tasks and communicate effectively. RH may need to bring in people for Day-Work or part-time/project-based work.
