A2B Ranch
Ranch Hand Wanted: Embrace the South Western Montana Lifestyle with Us!
About Us:
Nestled in the picturesque valley of Southwestern Montana, our family-owned ranch is a haven of natural beauty and tranquility. Just three miles into the forest, our ranch boasts 160 acres of lush land surrounded by BLM, national forest, and grazing land. With a nearby charming small town, Philipsburg, and major cities within a short drive, we offer the perfect blend of remote serenity and accessible convenience.
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a dedicated, hardworking individual to join our family-oriented ranch. If you have a very strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine appreciation for honesty and integrity, you might be the perfect fit. As a non-smoker with a clean driving record, you’ll work closely with our family and represent our values in this tight-knit community.
Job Responsibilities:
- This is a full-time role with varied tasks throughout the year.
- In the summer, you’ll be busy with:
- Maintaining and improving the ranch: fencing, wood cutting, mowing, and haying
- Tending to natural springs and enhancing wildlife habitats
- Managing road, field, equipment, and livestock needs
- Winter brings a slower pace, but there’s still plenty to do:
- Snow plowing with our heated tractor
- Checking on livestock
- Working in our workshop on equipment maintenance
In addition, you’ll need to be able to handle light equipment maintenance and coordinate with nearby towns for more extensive repairs. Our range of equipment includes ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, trailers, tractors, mowers, and various implements. If you’re not familiar with everything right now – it’s all learnable.
The biggest part of the job is the daily livestock care. Currently, our ranch is home to Highland Cattle, Suffolk Sheep, chickens, and horses. This is always changing as we build out the right mix for us. While experience is a plus, a desire to learn and to do whatever is needed to care for them is what we are after.
Responsibilities include everything to do with the animals including:
- Feeding, watering, and vaccinating
- Breeding and transporting
- Selling as necessary
Benefits include:
- Live and work in a stunning natural environment
- Become part of a supportive, family-oriented community
- Opportunity to learn and grow in a hands-on ranching role
- Housing
Requirements:
- Non-smoker with a clean driving record
- Strong work ethic and integrity
- While you’ll be the only ranch hand, the ability to work independently and with us important
- Willingness to learn and take on a variety of tasks no matter how small
- A great attitude and burning desire to show up on time, get the job done, and done right the first time
If you’re willing to work hard, embrace the ranch life and have a “do whatever it takes” to get the job done attitude, we’d love to hear from you.
