Description:
This is a unique opportunity to work on a large and remote private property ranch near Mitchell, Oregon. The Alscott Antone Ranch is a well-developed property that grazes cattle, raises hay, has a timber management/harvesting operation and provides recreation opportunities year-round. This position works with a small team of friendly, hard-working, and committed individuals.
Position Objective:
The Ranch Hand is primarily responsible for assisting coworkers with ranching and farming related duties and preparing recreational activities for guests.
Alscott Antone Ranch requires high standards of integrity, safety, teamwork, and adaptability.
A successful Ranch Hand has a positive attitude, ability to adapt to changing directions on the fly, and produce quality work. The Ranch Hand position can grow and evolve with the company to take on more responsibilities over time.
Essential Functions and Core Responsibilities:
- Prepare for recreational events by cleaning; boats, ATVs, vehicles, mowing lawns, weed eating, planting bushes and trees, and ensuring trap throwers are in good condition and ready for use.
- Assist with maintenance of building and repairs under the direction of the Ranch Manager or Maintenance Foreman.
- Assist in farming activities including; building and repairing fence, irrigation, tractor work, transporting parts, equipment, materials on and off the ranch via pick up with a trailer.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Working Environment/Physical Demands:
The work environment is mostly outdoors subject to changing temperatures, freezing to exceeding 90 degrees, snow, rain, hail, wind, and sun. Environment is subject to interruptions and changing priorities at times.
The physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, carrying, pushing, lifting and pulling objects weighing up to 90 pounds. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operator a variety of tools and equipment. Frequently bending, kneeling, crouching, turning, and twisting. Perform physically demanding and strenuous work.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This position is seasonal and scheduled to work 50 hours per week Monday – Friday with occasional weekend work from April through September.
Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Experience with basic power tools
- Knowledge or experience in ranching or farming
