Seeking a full-time Ranch Hand/Caretaker to manage the day-to-day duties for a remote ranch located 1 hour from the town of Elko, Nevada.
Duties include:
Horses: daily feeding, care, and wellness of horses, doctor and administer medication for sick/injured horses as needed
Fencing: build, repair and maintain fences to keep the horses in and the neighbors cattle out
Irrigating: help with flood irrigating of meadows and pivot irrigation during irrigation season
Tractor time: assist with farm work such as dragging meadows and cutting/raking hay, applying herbicide
Grounds maintenance and improvements: mowing, weed control, upkeep of barns and guest housing
Other: duties and projects Owner may deem necessary.
This is a seasonal position with the season ending late November 2024. There may be an opportunity for permanent year-round employment at the end of the season depending on your job performance.
Pay depends on experience. On site housing and utilities are provided along with a company truck for work use.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years ranching experience, strong horsemanship skills, and be someone who enjoys working independently doing a variety of tasks and projects around the ranch. You must have a clean driving record and be insurable on ranch vehicles. Must be a US citizen or possess a current green card. The ranch is a nonsmoking operation therefore smoking is prohibited in all housing, vehicles and throughout the property.
