Cora Vista Ranch
We are looking for a dedicated Ranch Hand and Caretaker to oversee the daily onsite operations of 230 acres of our beautiful ranch property. The ranch includes 230 acres of flood-irrigated land, featuring a beautiful log house, barn, outdoor horse-riding area, and 3 ponds and infrastructure currently in place. The owners are actively involved in all aspects of the ranch and enjoy and expect a positive, communicative relationship with employees, particularly the Ranch Hand and Caretaker! Below is a general list of responsibilities but don’t represent a full list:
Qualifications
- 2-5 years (at least) Ranch Experience
- Basic construction knowledge to assist and oversee projects
- Mechanical knowledge for equipment repair and maintenance
- Knowledge of Animal Husbandry and love for animals
- Knowledge of irrigation and water systems
- Knowledge of best practice safety procedures
- Strong Communication Skills
- Capable of working with other people
- Ability to keep the owners’ personal and ranch business confidential
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
- Possess strong knowledge of ranch operation in Wyoming and wildlife management practices
Animal Husbandry
- Experience with Horses and cattle
- Taking care of horses in grooming, riding, feeding, etc
- Barn and stall clean-up
- Knowledge of Animal Husbandry and love for animals
Equipment and Maintenance
- Basic construction knowledge to assist and oversee projects
- Mechanical knowledge for equipment repair and maintenance
- Inspect and keep up to date on all vehicles at the property
- Fencing repairs
- Snow removal in winter and regular maintenance of the main property road and the barn
- Knowledge of irrigation and water systems
- Maintain gas and propane tanks – making sure they are sufficiently full for ranch use
- Maintaining the riding area for flooding, large rocks, and drag if necessary
- Building Maintenance
- Knowledge of best practice safety procedures
- Varmint control
Landscaping and Yard Maintenance
- Maintain property grounds including mowing, weeding, fertilizing, and pond health
- Monitor irrigation systems and water plants in the home and around the property
Caretaker
- Assist with holiday or special events
- Preparing home for owner’s visit and guests visiting the property
- As needed assist with any airport runs for the owner and any guests visiting
- Overseeing essential provisions for the main house and guest apartment
- Housekeeping and light maintenance of home and guest apartment
