This position requires a motivated self-starter who can complete tasks with minimal prompting and maximum efficiency. Under the direction of the ranch manager, skills and responsibilities include:
General Ranch Work
- Operation and maintenance of heavy equipment (skid steer, backhoe, roller, tractor, dozer, feed blower trailer, and maintainer) for land clearing, road maintenance, hunting site preparations/maintenance, and various other projects as needed
- Basic construction knowledge for maintaining hunting blinds, ranch facilities, horse trails, fencing, and shooting range projects
- General groundskeeping
- Basic mechanical and vehicle maintenance knowledge
- Hiking and horse trails maintenance
- Assisting with prescribed burns
- Assisting other ranch staff with routine preparations as needed
- Taking care of the ranch’s chickens (located at the house)
Hunting & Trapping
- Proficiency in firearms and firearms safety to run feral hog traps during the hunting off-season
- Maintaining hunting sites throughout the year (blinds, feeders, cameras, etc.)
- Assisting with driving hunters to and from blinds, and processing game as needed
Horses
- Assisting the lead wrangler in a variety of tasks that include (but not limited to) maintaining horse areas and facilities, grooming, feeding, and saddling
- Accompanying the guest trail rides during the riding season
This salaried position comes with a 3/2 house (applicants with a family are welcomed), paid utilities, vehicle, and health benefits.
For most of the year, days off are Sundays and Mondays, and can change during the hunting season. All staff have 3 established weeks of paid vacation (always in May, September, and Christmas).
Years of experience preferred: 2-5 years
