This job is for a ranch foreman position – experience in managing cattle and all facets of a ranch are necessary.

We are a pre-conditioning facility for 400 pound to 600 pound high risk calves. We have a total capacity of 1000+ head but normally have 250 to 600 head at one time. We have grass traps (20-30 acres in size) and feed a TMR everyday (feeding is done by current employee), several sorting pens, and hydraulic working chute. Also, we have a growing agri-tourism side to our operation which includes Airbnb cabins, deer and duck hunting (hunting guide is on staff and also helps with other general ranch work), and horse boarding and trail riding.

As foreman your primary position is to care for the health of the calves and the area in which they stay. Checking calves 1 to 2 times per day, 7 days a weeks, and receiving cattle at all hours of the day and night. All very typical for a cattle position. Since we deal with high risk calves, you will have to be very proficient at picking sick cattle out and knowing how to treat them and with what. Attention to detail and being proactive is a must.

After the cattle are taken care of, you will be involved in general ranch work around the property. You should be proficient at operating equipment from tractors, skidsteers, excavators, and mowers. You will need to be able to repair equipment, weld, and build/repair fence (you don't need to be an expert). Lastly, you will be required to help with our agri-tourism business or any other area of the ranch as needed.

A 3 bedroom with master suite, ranch house (renovated 5+ years ago) is provided with utilities included and ranch truck. There are potential bonuses when cattle are sold but are not a given every time. Salary will be based on experience and skill level, with periodic raises.

We are a family ranch, with owner living on site, and want to cultivate a long term relationship with our employees. We always look to hire for the long term.
