POSITION SUMMARY
As a Program Assistant & Server, you are a primary contact for guests at Zapata Ranch, and you must present an authentic western appearance, be warm, gracious and able to think on your feet at all times. Safety is our number one concern, followed closely by ensuring that all of our guests have the best vacation of their life. You will provide educational, interesting activities and experiences to guests throughout their stay. You will help raise awareness of the Ranchlands mission as well as other partners missions such as the Nature Conservancy, Parks and Wildlife etc.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet guests, introduce yourself, engage with them and anticipate their needs throughout their stay.
- You have a responsibility to educate and inform guests about Ranchlands, The Nature Conservancy, other partners and agents that we work closely with as well as how the ranch operates, our mission, goals and environment.
- Lead bison tours on the Medano for all inclusive guests and day visitors
- Assist with all workshops and programs throughout the season. Note; we encourage our team to experience the workshops whenever possible, however your main responsibility is to facilitate the guests’ experience.
- Lead and assist with afternoon activities, including but not limited to; roping lessons, leather working sessions, naturalist walks, bird watching, appetizers at the mercantile and assisting with mercantile sales.
- Guide hikes and ecology walks on the ranch, in the National Park and other areas of interest.
- Dinner service and dish duties. Represent Zapata in our food program by answering questions about produce and the journey of our food, delivering exceptional service throughout meal times.
- Educate guests on our new meat product.
- Avoid being on your phone while with guests unless making a call for work, or taking pictures/videos of the guests.
- Upload Guest pictures and videos to google drive at the end of each week
- Write guest thank you notes as assigned by the end of each guest week.
- Any other activities that come up as relevant to guest services.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Passionate about land and land management, including ecology and history
1 year of hospitality experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Driver’s license
WORK SCHEDULE + TIME OFF
This is a seasonal, full-time position that entails at least 40 hours per week. Preferred start date: Feb. 19, 2023.
Reasonable overtime, including nights and weekends, may be necessary to meet business needs.
Regular working hours are 7 AM – up tp 9 PM (changes with your shift), 5 days per week.
Specific work schedules are set on a weekly basis and will vary according to the needs of the business; staff must be willing and able to adapt to meet a flexible weekly schedule.
At least one day off per week.
Five (5) days off may be requested within the season; days off must be coordinated around the guest and staff schedule with the Hospitality Manager and be approved by the Ranch Manager.
HOUSING
Housing can be provided in a shared house/bedroom.
