Hello, my name is Gavin, my girlfriend and I are looking for a working cattle ranch with a focus on stockmanship to call home. Housing would be needed. Would come with a couple ponies and few dogs. Currently running a set of cows in Montana, willing to stay in Montana or relocate to the following states: Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Nevada.
I’ve been dragging calves to the fire since I was 8 years old. I’m 30 now and have cowboyed, mostly seasonals, across Montana and into Idaho and Wyoming. Experienced in the year round efforts it takes to raise cattle. Confident in my skills to assess and manage those efforts. Whether it be on the desert with little water or on the mountain with protected water.
I take pride in everything I do. I’m honest, hard working, reliable. I like to keep work areas and vehicles clean and maintained. Every tool goes back in the box where it is supposed to be. I appreciate good ponies, fine dogs, and low stress stockmanship. All of which I strive to improve in myself. Ideally, I’d like to find a place that allows me the opportunity to do so.
With that being said, I do not want to spend the summer in a tractor. I’m much more comfortable in the saddle and know my way around, and in a herd. Have attended Ranching for Profit. Can work well with a crew and confident when alone. There is plenty more for me to learn and I’ll soak it in. Will tell you when I don’t know something, if something is broken, or when I’ve made a mistake. I believe in doing things right the first time, preventative maintenance when possible, time management, and enjoying what I do. We hope to find a place that believes in the same.
Audrey would be open to fill any role or part time work on the ranch or work in the area. She has experience with skidsteers, tractors, and feeding. She has done record keeping and book work as well as flood irrigation and bull collections, plus more. A quick learner with an associates degree in farm and ranch management that is willing to jump into any task you may have.
