Meghan, St. P.
Hello!
I’m 23 years old and have had a passion for agriculture since the age of 12. I was born and raised on my family’s third generation dairy farm in VT where we have grown our herd size and have implemented new sustainable technologies for the past decade. We grow the majority of our own crops and have recently joined the maple syrup industry and are continuing to grow in that field. At the prime age of 12 I was also lucky enough to be introduced to the equine world. I got my first horse Charlie and road him at 4-H fairs and around the farm, this was the start of my love affair with horses. As a young kid I helped by doing calf chores and tending to odd jobs around the farm, I was raised with the mentality that no-one on the team was above a job or task. I spent many summers rocking picking fields, tending to calves and covering bunk.
As a farm kid, my parent’s always joked that I was a better talker than a farmer. So as a young adult I decided to pursue a college degree in Public Relations and I’ll receive my degree in the next couple months as I finish 5 credits in online courses. This college pursuit added photography, social media, marketing, communications, journalism and public relations to my skill set. As my passion for ag and people grew, I found myself in the position of On-Air Personality at Vermont’s local country radio station, 98.9 WOKO. I deeply loved connecting with people throughout the ag community in VT and northern NY through media and grew my show to be the # 1 night show in our listening area.
All of these experiences throughout my life have taught me what my calling is and that is maintaining a connection between the general public and the agricultural community. It saddens me that today in 2016 the number of Americans who know where their food comes from is dwindling. In all seriousness I believe there is much work to be done in sharing the story of American ranches and farm operations with people who have no connection to our beautiful yet demanding way of life. I hope to spend the rest of my life advocating for the lifestyle I was so lucky to be raised in.
All this being said, I’m looking for a unique opportunity to both learn and thrive on your ranch. I’m looking for a place to get my hands dirty with manual labor while also representing your brand and crafting a story that the general public can connect with. I’m confident I have a unique skill set that could help grow your business and convey your story in a positive way online and in the media. I would love to speak more with you about what this experience could accomplish for both your ranch and myself.
Thanks in advance for your consideration!
