Part Time Ranch Manager needed at Family Ranch in Lake George/Tarryall area.
Colorado family is seeking a part-time experienced Horse and Ranch Caretaker to help them manage a ranch located in the Lake George/Tarryall area in central Colorado. The ranch is home to horses, UTVs, a trout pond, as well as two residences and equipment barns. The family is seeking a trusted and loyal team member to assist in the upkeep and care of the ranch and horses.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Duties are:
- This is a part-time position requiring at least two half days per week and additional time by mutual agreement. Days can be scheduled at your convenience.
- Good communication is critical to the success of this role. While on property, your eyes and ears will be an extension of the owner and communicating issues and updates is imperative
- Must have a strong work ethic and work without direct supervision
- Must be punctual and reliable, tracking time is required while being paid hourly
- Able to work outside in hot/cold weather and adverse conditions.
- Previous ranch, farm equipment, and horse care experience is strongly preferred
- Horses must be checked at least once every four days
- Care and maintenance of horse barn, stalls, water, and other infrastructure
- Care and maintenance of tack and horse supplies
- Feeding of horses, feeding of fish
- Capable of operating equipment including pickup trucks, pulling trailers, driving UTVs, driving tractors, using tractor implements, etc. is preferred and we are willing to train
- Routine care and maintenance of UTVs, tractor, and other power equipment and implements
- Operate irrigation equipment and pumps, move irrigation equipment
- Inspection and repair of fences, gates, and equipment
- Must be able to safely exert a considerable amount of physical effort to stoop, crouch, and lift 50 pounds or more.
- Routine cleaning and maintenance of the two residences
- Keep the barns and shop clean and tidy
- Ranch Manager may subcontract out cleaning but is still responsible for satisfactory completion of the job
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record and clean background check.
- No drugs, and No drinking is permitted on property. You must be sober and unimpaired while working.
Candidates must have a “no job too big or too small” attitude, enjoy working in a rural area and possess integrity and high character. Maintenance of privacy for the family and the property is an important part of the role. No outside visitors are permitted without permission. Competitive hourly compensation is offered and if this is a mutual fit a long term arrangement could be created.
This is a live-out position, and no housing is provided; heated space and restrooms are available for use while on property.
