We have a small, 21 acre farm, adjoining BLM land, in the Sonoita area, and have three horses, two ewes, with three lambs, at present, as well as a few cats that live in the barn. We are looking for someone to trade a place to stay, in one of our casitas, including utilities, in return for feeding (twice a day) and caring for the animals. The casita is a new studio, with a large kitchen, bathroom and saltillo tiling throughout. There is a large garden area in which you would be welcome to grow vegetables for your own use and we will share lamb meat with you whenever we butcher.

Our property is grasslands with mesquite trees, from which we harvest beans, which we grind into flour, and there is a pond full of bass, blue gills and catfish. The location is about 4 miles from Sonoita and a 45 minute drive south of Tucson. We tend to be about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Tucson because of the higher elevations and will get a few brief and wet snowfalls during the winter. And, as is typical for the region, we do get monsoons that last from the latter part of June or early July, through the last week or two in August.

We live on the farm on a part time basis, for two weeks every month, as we commute between Arizona and Montana on a monthly basis, which is why we need the help we are seeking here.

Some experience with animals, particularly horses, or the confidence and ability to learn quickly, would be necessary.
