Liberty Sanctuary is a leading equine sanctuary and nonprofit just outside of Park City UT.
We currently have over 35 equines on property and have different needs:
VET TECHNICIAN
Responsible for managing the health of the herd. Keep up to date files on all animals on property including a spreadsheet of latest medical procedures and events. Be proactive and schedule regular appointments with our farm vet to make sure each animal is up to date. Keep detailed records on health of each rescue including body score, feet, dental. Communicate and schedule farrier. Seek new ways and make suggestions to improve health. Assist with enrichment of the horses and our volunteers. Teach volunteers horsemanship basics. Keep spreadsheet of herd census with incoming and outgoing information. Help to research origins of our mustang horses and keep track of brands. You have an upbeat and collaborative personality and can coordinate well with our management team, veterinarian, ranch manager and volunteers.
Qualifications: Prefer 2-4 years of similar experience, please explain in detail – References required
RANCH HAND
Seeking experienced ranch hand with a positive attitude, clean bill of health, can lift 80 pound hay bales with ease. Needs to be able to work in all weather conditions. Experience around horses important. Not afraid to get your hands dirty and loves working outside in a mountain environment. No issues with health, drugs or alcohol. Responsibilities include:
- Checking horses, feeding and mucking
- Irrigation maintenance and fencing
- Manure management
- Snow plowing/removal – trash removal
- Maintaining exterior of home/buildings included light carpentry/painting
- Landscape work, mowing, weeding, some planting, fencing, etc.
- Operating skid steer, lawn mower, trailer
- Experience with welding, framing, electrical, plumbing a plus
