Waseda Farms
We are a family-owned Certified Organic Farm in Baileys Harbor, WI raising Grass-Fed Black Angus Cattle, Berkshire Hogs, and a flock of Layers for eggs. We also have a 2-acre seasonal garden. We currently have 1,700 acres under management and are continuing to expand. Our farm is cow-calf operation that has the first small scale Temple Grandin designed handling system ever built.
We have a store on the farm, where we sell all our products, as well as other locally produced products. We have a second store in Green Bay, where our butchers are located, who do the finish processing and packaging. We also do all our online fulfillment through this location.
We are looking for experienced and motivated farm staff with the drive to learn and contribute.
You will be expected to…
- Clarify expectations and outcomes before beginning almost everything
- Have a sense of ownership in Waseda Farms and take responsibility for creating the right outcomes and address problems without waiting to be told.
- Be fully aware of everything around you. You will continue to be productive, offer assistance when needed and use foresight to avoid potential problems or mishaps.

Some of the facts:
- The position reports to our Farm Manager.
- This is a year round position with 40-70 hours per week depending on the position, time of year, and weather.
- This work is primarily outdoors, hands on and physical.
- On Farm Housing may be available as part of compensation

Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience working on a farm, including with livestock (hogs, beef cattle, chickens, turkeys) and with equipment (tractor, baler, rake, mower, skid steer, etc.). The more you have the better.
- Excellent work ethic and positive attitude.
- Mature, dependable, and strong organizational and problem solving skills
- Belief in organics and sustainable farming.
- Willing to learn all aspects of a small scale(but growing) diversified family farm and work as a member of a team.
- You must be self-directed, work well with others, give direction well and also take direction well
- Able to show up for work early or on time when scheduled.
- Lift 50lbs consistently – 80lbs occasionally
- You must have a valid driver's license and be a safe driver capable of driving a pick up truck and stock trailer/goose neck trailer. You may also be asked to pick up or deliver product in a delivery van.
- Clean criminal history
We are looking for someone with experience in any/all of the following:
- College degree in Animal Science or other similar or related field
- Experience with Certified Organic and or pasture based operations-including crop production and animal husbandry.
- Rotational grazing and an emphasis in grassed and forage
- Humane animal handling
- Artificial insemination
- Heat detection, birthing, weaning,
- Detailed computerized record keeping
- Equipment maintenance and repair
Eventually, you will be responsible for:
- All record keeping for certifications
- Daily observation of animals and experience to identify issues
- Day to day feeding, watering and cleaning
- Herd heath, insemination, preg checks, vaccinations, etc.
- Fence repair and maintenance
- Basic equipment operation, maintenance and repair
- Assisting with employee supervision
- Assisting with other parts of the farm
- Managing during the Farm Director’s absence
- Helping shape the farms future direction
