Seeking a responsible & honest self-starting ranch hand with a heart for animals to oversee our 40-acre rescue ranch.
Responsibilities:
- The ranch has many senior animals and their health must be monitored daily.
- Must trim horses’ hooves twice yearly.
- Responsible for vaccine program.
- Provide clean water twice daily.
- Must keep all areas organized and clean.
- Operate tractor and use skid mower implement.
- Basic repairs of doors, latches, and fencing as needed.
- Using the leaf blower to sweep the barn out daily.
- Egg collecting and cleaning chicken areas daily.
- Spend time with all animals, including cats.
- Feed & train livestock guard dogs. Must walk dogs and spend time with them daily.
- Brush the horses.
This job can either be filled by 2-3 part-time helpers or one full-time, live-in manager.
Living on property would be considered part of compensation.
A live-in ranch hand is preferred for the right candidate. A live-in manager could expect 5 hours of work per day on average.
The ideal manager will require little to no supervision following an initial training period but will communicate relevant information to the ranch owner as needed.
This is a contractor position- the selected employee(s) will make their schedule and once agreed upon, the employee will then bill for time worked.

- 8 mini horses
- 8 regular horses
- 3 donkeys
- 2 dogs
- 7 cats
- 19 goats
- 5 llamas
- 1 alpaca
- 2 cows
- +
- 20 chickens
- 2 roosters
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Maintain open communication with the ranch owner
- Must be able to drive a tractor
- Knowledge & ability to bale hay is a plus
