Rollins Ranch White
Summary and Overview: We are looking for a Cattle Ranch Foreman at our Rollins Ranch White location. Our ideal candidate will be well rounded, have great attention to detail, is teachable, and has a willingness to perform all ranch jobs. Typical Ranch jobs include: cattle care, basic ranch equipment maintenance, hay production, and pasture maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Ranch Manager on overseeing and carrying out day to day ranch operations including weekends and Holidays as necessary.
- Work with and supervise ranch hands and grounds workers daily (H2A workers as needed).
- Responsible for carrying out cattle health plan and administer vaccinations and treatments.
- Livestock Control (fence inspection and maintenance and inspection of working facilities) – Lead and assist with new fence construction as needed.
- Responsible for carrying out cattle nutritional program and pasture rotations as instructed by Ranch Manager.
- Monitoring and reporting cattle health and well-being.
- Calving cows including tagging, tattooing, and weighing newborns as needed.
- Ranch record-keeping related to cattle treatments, weights as needed, feed/hay distribution, equipment maintenance, calving, and breeding records as needed.
- Ensure basic equipment maintenance occurs at proper interval and is performed as needed.
- Actively involved and lead pasture maintenance (mowing, spraying, and planting).
- Actively involved and lead hay production as needed.
- Maintain water troughs and do what is necessary to insure that cattle have access to water at all times
- Oversee/supervise outside contractors as needed (fertilizer, lime, feed deliveries, and others)
- Be willing to fill in where needed in the absence of other workers or if the workload requires additional assistance
- Be observant and aware of all ranch happenings and conditions and report appropriately to Ranch Manager.
- Set a good example and uphold high standards.
- Assume responsibility in absence of Ranch Manager
- Contributes to overall ranch success.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Agriculture Degree (Preferably Animal Science), Tractor experience required
- Minimum 5 years of previous and recent day-to-day beef cattle farm experience
- Willingness to do all farm work- cattle, hay, pasture spraying and mowing, water line repair, maintain aesthetics, and some grounds work as needed (mowing and weed eating)
- A.I. experience is desired but not required, must be willing to learn
- Bi-lingual in Spanish is desired but not required
