In Search Of: A full time horse barn manager on a reining cow horse family breeding farm in Santa Ynez, California. Ranch has approximately 20-30 horses depending on breeding.
Primary responsibilities include working with the foals ages newborn – three, trailering short and long distance (operation of the 2 & 3 horse trailer is a must / 4 horse trailer a plus), occasional riding of ranch horses (potential for more riding for the right candidate), tacking and untacking for owners and trainers, attending vet visits and assisting with vet and breeding logistics, ordering of farm supplies and feed, use and maintenance of ranch utility vehicles, including dragging of the arena and keeping all vehicles up to date re: service, gas, etc., and assisting with breeding and show paperwork.
Applicants will be in charge of general horse care (grooming) and must be willing and able to do daily horse care if needed (mucking and feeding).
Applicants must be a team player and have a positive attitude. Must have experience working with horses (and foals), have a valid driver’s license and be willing to do a background check.
Salaried Position with health benefits – Salary dependent on applicants skills ($50k+)
Rough daily hours: 7 am – 4 pm, Tues. – Sat.
