R Ranch in the Sequoias
Work at 4700 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at a private vacation resort in the town of Johnsondale 23 miles north of Kernville California. Must exhibit good customer service skills, enjoy leaving a space better than you found it and demonstrate attention to detail. A great candidate is eager to please and can follow instructions closely. This position reports to the Ranch Manager and is a working position that is expected to partner with their staff to accomplish the goals of stables. We are looking for a creative person who can help enhance our property and the activities of our owners as well as make every trail ride a fun and pleasant experience. Must be 25+ years old for insurance purposes.
Demonstrated experience in horse training, riding lessons, health issues and proper foot care is expected as well as good interpersonal skills. The ability to acquire new stock with sound conformation is a must and to be able to make sound judgments on the temperaments and demeanors of new and existing stock is also required. Minimum of 5 years experience leading or managing trail rides. Understanding and demonstrated competency of tack use and saddle fit is expected.
Additional skills that would be helpful include being able to teach more advanced classes, campfire songs, basic cattle work classes and log/lumber construction skills.
