Sundance Trail Guest Ranch
Sundance Trail has a special quality … The feeling is “home”. We are a small guest ranch near Red Feather Lakes (37 miles northwest of Fort Collins). We border Roosevelt National Forest and sit at 8,000 feet. All staff: cooks, dishwashers, wranglers, and housekeepers are here to serve our guests and to help them to relax, have fun and to make memories that will last a lifetime. We are one team helping people/families enjoy the outdoors, making memories together.
If you love the outdoors, meeting new people, working as a team, and have a willing attitude to do what it takes to make each of our guests feel right at home, Sundance Trail may be the place for you. We encourage all staff to eat with our guests. Meals are served family style. This is a time of fellowship and of course story-telling. We also encourage our staff to take breaks to enjoy the ranch. During breaks staff may tack up a horse and go for a ride, take a hike, join in with any guest activity, or enjoy one of the many hammocks.
Sundance Trail is open year-round. Summer is Dude ranch season and most ranch positions are from May through September, some may start as early as April and last through October. However, we offer each employee the opportunity to choose their precise employment dates. Head cook
Head cook prepares & serves 3 meals a day, plus cookies/snacks for 30 – 40 people a day. Maintain a clean kitchen, assist in menu planning, and food inventory management. Assist in washing dishes. Need to be able to bake breads/rolls, cookies and desserts, to make soup, and salad, and hearty meat & potato type meals. A person comfortable in the kitchen with good organizational skills can be trained for this position. This person is assisted by an Assistant Cook and usually 1 or 2 dishwashers.
Housekeepers and Dishwashers
Housekeepers and Dishwashers are responsible for general but thorough cleaning of the kitchen, dining room, guest rooms and all public areas. These staff also help with ranch activities such as hiking, rock-climbing, fishing, riflery, and when able may even assist the wranglers around the horses.
Wranglers
Wranglers are responsible for caring for horses, guests and other ranch animals. Wranglers lead trail rides, take folks hiking, entertain guests, tell many stories. In many ways the wranglers are the face of the ranch, requires skill working with people and horses. Since we are one team you may also assist in the kitchen or housekeeping.
