General Ranch Hand/ Herdsman Wanted

Bar T Bar Ranches, located in Northern AZ has 3 seasonal openings for the right people. From now thru 1st of January, could be long term for right candidates. The ranch has two HQ, the summer HQ is located in the Coconino National Forest a minimum of 52 miles from nearest town, and the winter HQ is located 30 miles from Winslow AZ just off I-40 . Cattle are trailed between the two HQ in the spring and fall.
These openings are for General Ranch Hand / Herdsman applicants only. There is a lot of riding but this is not a full time riding job. Can bring up to 3 well broke geldings for ranch use, but there are ranch horses available too. No mares, and no dogs used on cattle. Depending on the time of year the work week is generally Monday thru Saturday with Sundays off. As with any ranch the spring and fall works will be longer hours and may require some Sundays to be worked.
Duties include but are not limited to: Moving and gathering cattle in large country, predominantly horseback and with occasional atv use. Maintenance and repair of barbed wire and high tensile electric fences, checking gates. Chute help during weaning and preg checking. Maintaining, checking, starting wells and generators. Salt, mineral, and supplement distribution. Observation with timely communication and treatment of sick or injured livestock. Operation of truck and trailer. Pay DOE
Requirements:
- Resume
- 3 work references
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a drug test
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Knowledge of livestock health
- Skilled in horsemanship, and have your own gear
- Low stress livestock handling skills
- Barbed wire and High tensile electric fencing skills
- Knowledge of Well, Drinker, Pipeline, and Generator operation
- Good attitude
- Good work ethic
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Able to work independently and as a team member
Preferred, But Not Required:
- Horse shoeing ability, and tools
- Welding, plumbing, mechanical skills
- Heavy equipment operation
