Hawkeye Hunting Club
The General Manager’s role is to manage all aspects of the property – hospitality services, hunting (upland bird and deer), shooting, land management and property maintenance. Must be able to develop and maintain high quality relationships with our guests and employees. You will be expected to lead the staff in their guest services and property management/maintenance duties. You will be expected to guide/lead shooting sports activities with guests when necessary. The job will include working weekends and evenings, especially during the hunting season. Because we are in the hospitality business, you must be friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, with a positive and helpful attitude. Hawkeye was founded in 1955 in East Texas outside of the town of Center (Shelby County by the Louisiana border).
Responsibilities Include:
- Managing employee schedules and monitoring work progress
- Hiring and training employees in their duties
- Interacting with guest, addressing all dissatisfactions or needs
- Guiding hunts or shooting activities as needed
- Developing and managing vendor relationships
- Managing all inventories needed to facilitate a hunt including guns, ammunition, birds, feed, and canines
- Monitoring financial results, implementing cost savings and revenue generation strategies
- Consulting with owners on projects such as land management, construction, and marketing efforts
Skills/Requirements:
- Strong leadership and management skills, ability to motivate staff and establish work standards and expectations
- Possess high level of integrity and responsibility
- Ability to manage costs while developing revenue generating projects
- Possess basic plumbing and constructions skills at a minimum
- Flexible and adaptable

- Must possess a passion for providing exceptional customer service to guests

- A desire and ability to spend a significant time outdoors

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to handle outdoor temperatures for extended periods
- Ability to move around the property which includes fields, forest, and water
- Ability to operate equipment – tractors, bulldozers, skid steers, etc.
- Manage a staff of 10-15 full time employees including office staff, housekeepers, cooks, hunting guides, grounds staff and maintenance
- Work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekend, and holidays as needed
- Reside full-time on the property and respond promptly to guest needs, including at night and on weekends
- Live and work in a small town, rural community
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Wildlife or Hospitality (Preferred)
Experience:
- Experience in a supervisory/management role (5-10 year minimum)
- Demonstrated experience with firearm handling and safety (required)
- Experience in a hunting/outdoors work environment (Preferred)
- Experience in the hospitality business (Helpful)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $55k – $80k based on experience
Housing: House on property, utilities included
