We’re pioneering regenerative bison ranching and conservation practices, and we are looking for a dedicated, hands-on Feedlot Technician to help us care for our bison and optimize our feeding operation.

JOB PURPOSE

As a Feedlot Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring feedlot operations, tracking animal performance, and ensuring proper equipment and facility maintenance. This role requires attention to detail and a strong work ethic. Your work will contribute to the success of a leading bison feedlot operation with a focus on sustainability and best practices in animal care.

As a Feedlot Technician, the job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Monitor Feeding Program
    • Ensure bison receive a well-balanced diet through our innovative free choice cafeteria style ration system.
    • Monitor mineral supplements and make recommendations to improve animal health and weight gain.
    • Maintain detailed feeding and inventory records utilizing AgriWebb technology.
  2. Feedlot Maintenance
    • Keep our equipment in top shape by performing routine maintenance on trucks, UTVs, tractors and wheel loaders.
    • Ensure safe, well-maintained pens by cleaning waters, fixing fences and gates, and minimizing dust wallows.
  3. Bison Care
    • Utilize low stress animal handling techniques to move and monitor bison.
    • Observe and report animal-related concerns to ensure optimal performance.
    • Assist in weighing and vaccinating animals when needed.

This position offers hands-on experience in a progressive feedlot setting, with opportunities to gain skills in regenerative agriculture, animal nutrition, and large-scale ranch and feedlot management.

WHAT THIS JOB IS NOT:

  • A management or supervisory position
  • A conventional feedlot role

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  1. You’ll need to present documentation establishing both identity and employment authorization within three days of hire pursuant to federal law.
  2. Basic computer skills

Preferred:

  1. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  2. At least 1 year of experience in agriculture-related settings.
  3. Heavy equipment operating skills are a plus.
  4. If position requires operation of vehicles, and you’ll need to possess a valid driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.  Your driving record will need to meet the standards and requirements of the Company and the Company’s insurance provider.

ACCOMMODATIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

On a regular basis, you can expect to:

  • Stand; sit; walk; move hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform physical labor for extended periods of time.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

You will regularly be required to work long hours and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; moving mechanical parts; and toxic or caustic chemicals. You will be occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
