Muytala Eco Village
We are a new permaculture eco village south of the Grand Canyon on 43 gorgeous off grid acres. It takes a special person to be able to live off grid!
We have some solar in place with more being put together as I am writing this. We have some of the rain catchment in place, along with hauling, delivery and plans to put in a few ponds on the property, and we are currently using propane. We just started this in May of this year, and due to covid, supplies, and help was hard to come by.
We currently have 2 dogs, and 4 cats, however we are in the process of looking to find some chickens, goats, ducks, rabbits, a mule, sheep, and possibly a couple pigs.
We are looking to fill 2 positions:

1 Laborers position available:
Qualifications:
Valid Drivers License
Able to pass a background test
NON-Smoker Preferred (if smoker, MUST NEVER smoke inside housing, or community buildings, and ONLY smoke in agreed upon areas (designated areas). Please!
Vehicle, preferably a 4 wheel drive (but not a necessity).
Able to start by December 1st or sooner (strongly preferred)
Must Be Able To: Lift 50+ lbs, bend, twist, climb, squat, ect.
If Internet is Important: Verizon works the best or Straight Talk (a prepaid service from Walmart that uses Verizon towers). AT&T works the second best, however is a little spotty. Team mobile is really spotty. I will be setting up a community laptop in the main cabin if need be.
Must Be: Honest, Trustworthy, Dependable, and a self motivator (don’t need micro managed)
Must Have Pride in your work, and treat others things as if their your own!
I do have a small loft upstairs of the main cabin if housing is needed.
Starting pay is $10 per hour (cash) for the first 2 weeks, then a review will be done to discuss your performance, both our concerns (if any) and to discuss a possible raise.
You would be doing various chores as, feeding/watering, and cleanup of animals morning and evening (this chore is switched off between all of us), however the laborer will be responsible for making sure it is done. You would also be assisting the maintenance and any professionals hired for a specific job who would be in need of a laborer.
The hours are as follows (since we’re in winter this can change). We meet in the morning at 7:30 for coffee, fruit, cereal ect., discuss the chores for the day and who is doing what. Then we usually start around 8:00am. At noon we take lunch for 30 min to an hour (what ever you prefer), Then we all start back by 1pm and work until between 4:30-5:30 (depending on how the day went and the weather). Animals are currently being feed before the morning meeting, at 7:30am, and then around 5:30pm. These hours are not in stone, it does depend on the weather, however the animals always need cared for!
1 Experienced farm hand with handyman experience needed:

I do have a 5th wheel trailer if housing is needed. I’m only hiring one however I will allow a couple to stay in the trailer. Sometimes I do need some help with my personal items and I do prefer a female to help me. (so possible help, now in then, but not on a regular basis).
