Position Summary:

The Facilities Manager will oversee and work hands on in the day-to-day maintenance and repair operations of the ranch. This role focuses on the upkeep of all structures, systems, and equipment, requiring expertise in plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, irrigation, and general repairs. The Facilities Manager will work closely with the Ranch Manager, allowing them to focus on land management, and ensuring the ranch operates smoothly and efficiently.

*This role will require being located on site at the ranch full-time; housing available if needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repair:

  • Plumbing: Perform complex plumbing repairs, including pipe installation, leak detection and repair, and maintenance of water systems.
  • Irrigation: Oversee the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water use for landscaping and pastures.
  • Electrical: Manage electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, lighting, and power distribution. Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues.
  • HVAC: Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure comfort in all buildings.
  • General Repairs: Handle general handyman tasks, such as fixing doors, windows, and roofing. Perform carpentry work as needed.
  • Building Upkeep: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of all ranch structures, including guest cabins, main lodge, barns, and outbuildings.

Facilities Management:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair ranch-owned vehicles, machinery, and equipment, including tractors, ATVs, and tools.
  • Landscape and Grounds: Oversee the upkeep of landscaping, including mowing, trimming, and tree care. Maintain fences, corrals, and other outdoor structures.
  • Water Systems: Ensure the functionality of wells, water storage, and distribution systems. Develop new water sources as needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Implement a preventative maintenance schedule to reduce downtime and extend the life of ranch assets.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulations.

Operational Support:

  • On-Demand Repairs: Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs to minimize disruptions.
  • Project Assistance: Assist the Ranch Manager with construction projects, renovations, and upgrades to ranch facilities.

Vendor Management:

  • Vendor Coordination: Work with external contractors and service providers for specialized repairs and major projects.
  • Vendor Selection and Vetting: Identify, select, and vet local vendors to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Contract Management: Review and manage contracts with vendors, ensuring terms are met and work is completed to satisfaction.
  • Onsite Supervision: Oversee vendors while they are on-site to ensure compliance with ranch standards and safety protocols.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge and experience in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, irrigation, and general handyman repairs.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
  • Physical Stamina: Capability to lift 90 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Tool Proficiency: Skilled in the use of hand and power tools necessary for maintenance and repair work.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities.
  • Communication Skills: Good interpersonal skills to interact with ranch staff and vendors.
  • Vendor Management: Experience in selecting, vetting, and managing local vendors and contractors.
  • Contract Review: Ability to review and negotiate vendor contracts to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to handle unexpected repairs and changing priorities.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Competitive compensation DOE
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance roles, preferably in a remote or ranch setting.
  • Relevant certifications in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC systems are a plus.
  • English language fluency required, Spanish language proficiency a plus.
