Job Description
We are a small, family owned farm looking to add a new, permanent member to our team.
We have a ranch manager at this property, but we need an additional person with similar capabilities to enable him to do his work without having to “babysit” or micro-manage his help. Therefore, we are looking for someone with 20+ years of experience being responsible for all aspects of a ranch, including at least 5 years of experience caring for animals.
We raise Iberian pigs; a traditional breed of the domestic pig native to the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) first brought to America in the summer of 2014. We raise them free-range and sell them alive for high-end meat production. You can read more on these pigs and their meat at:

Ranch Manager:
We need an experienced individual capable of handling, as his own, a 340 acre farm with over 2000 heads. Ideally, this will be someone with 20+ years of experience caring for property (building fence, roads, water systems, etc), and at least 5 years of experience caring for farm animals. This will be a working ranch manager who can do the work; not just supervise. For their own safety, applicants must be in good physical health and fair shape as even the manager’s job consists of 90% physical labor. The property is still new to us, so there are several pastures to complete (which require building fences, laying pipe to deliver water, build feeders, etc.) The expectation is that the ranch manager can manage and do this work with the help of a ranch hand.
Salary: ~$50,000 annual (specific salary based on experience) plus end of year profit-sharing bonus of up to $20,000 (based on 1. company profit and 2. employee performance).
Housing and pickup truck provided. Couples welcome.
Ranch Hands:
We need two people with ranch or construction experience who know what is like, and enjoy, working outdoors around animals on a daily basis, rain or shine. Ideally, these are people who want permanent employment at a small farm, who will work closely with the ranch manager but eventually become independent (will know what needs done and do it without having to be told). For their own safety, applicants must be in good physical health and fair shape as even the job consists of 100% physical labor.
Salary: ~$40,000 annual (specific salary based on experience) plus end of year profit-sharing bonus of up to $12,000 (based on 1. company profit and 2. employee performance).
Partial housing costs provided.
Requirements for all positions:
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Pass a background check and periodic drug tests
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Requirements for the Manager:
- 20+ years of experience in general ranch and land work
- Operate ranch equipment and perform their general maintenance
- Build and maintain hog fence and water systems
- Basic handyman skills – electrical and welding are a plus
- 5+ years of experience handling farm animals
- Basic computer skills is also a must. We keep all of our records electronically.
- Speak basic English
For safety reasons: Must be in good physical condition – able to perform outdoor manual labor on a daily basis and regardless of weather.
