Flying X Ranch
Please send a cover letter, resume and three references by email.
Come join our team on this unique remote ranch this Season (April 1 through Oct. 31)!
We are looking for a few experienced, hard-working hands to help out with general ranch maintenance and repair at this 20K+ acre private recreational ranch.
There are miles of fencing and irrigation ditches to maintain and lots of different types of ranch work. Please see below for a list of job duties. Experience repairing and building fence, and operating (and maintaining) ATV/UTVs, trucks (some manual), tractors, skid steers, and other types of heavy equipment is preferred.
Equine skills are a plus, though these are not riding positions. We do have a herd of 45-75 trail horses throughout the year. Our Ranch Hands will be working closely with our Wranglers this Season so there may be additional opportunities to help out at the barn and care for the horses.
We are looking for individuals that are experienced, skilled and can hit the ground running. This is a busy ranch. Our horses are capable, hard-working and honest and we expect the same of our staff!
No day is exactly the same. A good attitude, patience, flexibility, and a willingness to show up and work in all kinds of weather (and no matter the job) are some of the characteristics we are looking for; someone that’s a self-starter, who follows direction and takes initiative, works well on their own and with others, and is interested in helping as needed on the ranch and with the horses.
This is a private recreational ranch. It is not open to the public. There are miles of meadows, mountains and canyon land to explore.
It is remote here – perfect for some, not for everyone! Our entrance is set several miles back a dirt road and the closest town is Wheatland, WY (a 40 minute drive for groceries). It’s about 1:15 to Laramie, and 1.5 hours to Cheyenne.
