Private Ranch
Duties
• Seed and manage the pastures
• Bobcat Machine operations
• Minor mechanical work on machines
• Clean and store equipment
• Build and repair fencing
• Snowplowing during the season
• Mowing during the season
• Chop and collect firewood during the summer to prepare for the winter
• If it’s broke – fix it
• Clean stalls and equipment after use, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, and/or pumps.
• Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain.
• Groom, clip, trim horses hair.
• Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures when we rotate.
• Drive pick-up trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals.
• Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions when needed.
• Feed and water livestock daily; and monitor food and water supplies daily.
• Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations; or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment when needed.
• Shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food.
• Spray livestock with disinfectants and insecticides; or dip or bathe animals.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences.
• Move equipment, poultry, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts.
• Order food for animals, and arrange for its delivery.
• Patrol grazing lands on horseback or using all-terrain vehicles.
• Protect herds from predators, using trained dogs.
Performing General Physical Activities
• Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
• Controlling Machines and Processes — Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).
• Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings — Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
• Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material – Grease and check all machines before being started.
Skills-Required
• Self-starter, highly motivated, and able to complete projects with limited or no direct supervision once trained
• Desire to improve processes and efficiency throughout the operation
• Possess the ability for strategic planning for the future of the operation and ability to see projects through to completion
• A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) would be helpful, but not required
• Working hours are Monday thru Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and chores need to be completed 7 days a week.
• MUST be able to pass a criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting and Child abuse clearances.
Compensation
• Housing- needs to be landscaped and house cleaned weekly
• Electricity/Propane/ water/ sewer/ Direct Tv
• Internet connection
• Weekly Compensation based on experience
