Join our farm in the mountains of Tennessee. We focus on rotational grazing, organic practices and building our mountain farm into a farming paradise. Far enough off the beaten path to enjoy the quiet but close enough to town to make life easy.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Animal care to the highest standards. Including dairy cows, pigs, sheep, poultry and livestock guardian dogs.
- Daily Milking
- Rotational electric fence moving several times a week for all animals.
- Keeping track of animal feed supplies /hay.
- Maintaining the buildings /barns on the property through basic care, cleaning, organizing and trash collection.
- Maintains the property grounds including the roadside, property entrances, fencerows, lake, pastures, ATV /walking trail, farm roads, and boundaries of the farm. The weed eater will be your best friend.
- Filling and maintaining lake fish feeders.
- Repairing/ installing fencing when needed. Understanding electric fencing.
- Help with organic garden areas for large kitchen gardens/ greenhouse and compost systems. Including weeding, planting, harvesting and start/end of season garden prep.
- Planting and caretaking of a new 100 fruit tree orchard/blueberry bushes.
- Seeding pastures, hills and lake banks.
- Keeps property clear of litter and other debris.
- Maintaining vehicle and tool servicing, tool inventory, regular maintenance not limited to ATV’s, animal trailers, farm trucks, skid steer and excavator.
- Makes changes to improve the function and efficiency of the buildings and grounds.
- Clears/trims limbs and performs some basic tree maintenance especially after storms.
- Prepares property for large family events and parties.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ years of farm experience
- Valid driver’s license/ Car
- Background check
- Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, mechanical equipment, tractors with implements, mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, blowers and manual transmission trucks.
- Basic carpentry skills a must.
- Experience managing farm animals including dairy cows, pigs, sheep, livestock dogs, chickens and ducks.
- Willingness to learn new skills and coming in without an ego!
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a variety of situations in a safe and effective manner.
- Ability to walk three miles or more per day, each day on hills.
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, reach, carry objects, and crawl in confined areas and be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to fifty (50) pounds independently and (100) pounds with assistance.
- Gardening experience a plus.
- Lambing and calving experience a plus.

Personal Characteristics:
Candidate must be goal-oriented; able to recognize, prioritize and complete tasks; and work safely and efficiently with others. Must possess a strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently. No smoking/vaping. No recreational drug use. Must have a positive attitude and be CLEAN! You are sharing housing! Absolutely no drama. We do not put up with it! If this is your first time living away from home we are not the farm for you. You need to be able to take care of yourself! This is farm life. It is amazing but it is not Instagram. You work hard, some days are tedious and boring. We are a working farm. Not a cowboy farm. We do a little bit of everything. Coming in with a can do attitude, willing to work hard and learn will get you far.
Housing/Salary:
- Shared staff housing with a cat. Must have lived with roommates before. Clean and self sufficient!
- Salary is starting at $30k a year. Show us what you can do! Also included is access to our milk, eggs, veggies and meat.
