Looking for a high-level farmer/rancher for a property in Fallbrook, CA.
Job Summary: This person should be capable of growing all items on our list, raising livestock, manage a team of people, understand all aspects of organic farming from preparation to harvest and be willing to live onsite if needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Able to understand all aspects of Organic farming from preparation to harvest
- Harvest vegetables by hand and check every item to ensure it meets farm’s standards while tossing away items that do not pass that threshold
- Operate several different types of machinery, including tractors, irrigation equipment and harvesters, to carry out responsibilities of role
- Herd cattle and once a week take them to nearby pasture for grazing; maintain vigilant eye to make sure none of the animals wander off
- Apply chemical solutions to plants to ward off insects and other pests
- Maintain communications with clients to keep them in the loop when a shipment is going to be delivered
- Clean housing areas of animals once a week or more frequently if a certain area becomes uninhabitable
- Manage a team of workers
- Willing to live on-site if needed
- Other duties as assigned
Job Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in farming and raising livestock required
- Knowledge about organic produce and latest trends in organic farming required
- Excellent physical stamina
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to manage a team of farm workers
- Knowledge of how to use cargo trucks, harvesters and haymaking machinery is good to have
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Salary: Up to $150k/yr DOE
