This position can be filled as a seasonal position located in beautiful Big Sky, Montana or be year round enjoying the snowbird lifestyle with winters in Tucson, AZ. Housing is available in both locations. The horses are transported back and forth providing year round riding!
This 78 year old couple is active in mind and spirit despite some limiting physical conditions due to prior strokes and heart issues. As equestrian partner, applicant would groom and saddle horses, drive horse trailer, assist with mounting and dismounting, enjoy daily two hour horse back rides, assist with ongoing training of their horses and learn the trails from this knowledgeable couple who own four gaited horses.
As live-in caretaker, the job includes scheduling appointments, managing calendars, driving them to appointments and social engagements, help with house cleaning, car maintenance, laundry, changing bed sheets, cooking, grocery shopping, dog walking, cell phone and tv technology issues when they arise, etc. Think "house manager" handling all things internal of a house except bill paying and finances. There is an on-sight property manager in Big Sky who handles exterior work. Job requires excellent communication skills, a compassionate personality, willingness to tolerate a slower pace, good at problem solving, patience, a sense of humor, flexibility, and a desire to help them create joy in their day to day living.
The accommodations could also include one horse and one dog, in which case both animals need to have good manners. (Dog must be house trained, not allowed on furniture, gentle, and can't chase wildlife.) Non-smokers only, light/social alcohol ok, clean driving record required.
Big Sky job is from May 1st – late October. Proof of Covid 19 vaccination and booster required.
