Family-owned ranch is seeking to fill a Ranch Manager position in Halletsville, Texas.

Some of the responsibilities include upkeep of ranch facilities, deer feeders, feed pens, operation of tractors and other machinery, roadways, water troughs, lawn care, chemical applications for brush control, and harvest and processing of deer.

Housing is available, a 2 bedroom trailer. May consider upgrade in housing once working relationship is secured and we both see this as long term.

Our ranch is 1,000 acres, you would be working directly with owners to execute overall management of property. Position requires heavy lifting, operating and maintenance on ranch equipment, skid steer, tractors etc. Must be able to work independently and anticipate needs of property. Looking for someone who can communicate well and relay needs as they surface.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete oversight of ranch, properly maintaining residences, ground’s pastures, equipment and animals.
  • Act as point of contact for owners, providing regular updates on all activity on property.
  • Responsible for all ground maintenance, including residences, landscape, hardscape, irrigation, buildings, roads, gates, and fencing.
  • Assist family as needed for overall care and feeding of the cattle and other animals.
  • Schedule and manage contractors/vendors when needed
  • Working knowledge of all household systems, and ability to do light repairs as needed.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment.

ANIMALS

  • Working with owners for general animal care and feeding
  • Monitor health and address issues, work with owners and vet as needed
  • Ensure protection in extreme weather.

OTHER

  • Maintenance of building and structures
  • Coordinate and implement, with owner, on hunting related needs
  • Be available for emergency calls.
  • Predator control, including coyotes, snakes, and hogs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ranch management experience required
  • Safely operate all heavy equipment, including tractor, skid steer, truck, power and hand-tools, light, welding, fence building and road maintenance.
  • Be able to work outdoors year around in extreme weather.
  • Heavy lifting 50 pounds or more
  • Maintain ranch infrastructures, such as ponds, roads, corrals, water system, housing, deer blinds and buildings, including repair and maintenance.
  • Lawn mowing, brush cutting, weed eating, clean ranch equipment and vehicles.
  • Must be trustworthy, self motivated, and able to work independently.
