Waseda Farms
This position reports to the Owners of the farm. This is a year-round full-time position. You will work between 50-70 hours per week. You will have 3+ employees reporting to you.
We are a family-owned Certified Organic Farm in Baileys Harbor, WI raising Grass-Fed Black Angus Cattle, Berkshire Hogs, and a flock of Layers for eggs. We also have a 2-acre seasonal garden. We currently have 1,700 acres under management and are continuing to expand. Our farm is cow-calf operation that has the first small scale Temple Grandin designed handling system ever built.
We have a store on the farm, where we sell all our products, as well as other locally produced products. We have a second store in Green Bay, where our butchers are located, who do the finish processing and packaging. We also do all our online fulfillment through this location.
We are looking for experienced and motivated farm staff with the drive to learn and contribute.
You will be expected to…

Basic Qualifications:
- You must have a minimum of 10 years of farm work experience – Including beef cattle, hogs and laying hens, tractors and equipment
- 5 years of management experience
- Excellent work ethic and positive, engaging attitude.
- Mature and dependable.
- Strong Leadership skills, willing and able to lead by example, and also work as a member of a team.
- Be a coach, mentor and trainer to all employees.
- Believe in organics, sustainability and humane animal handling.
- Must have outstanding organizational skills and be detail oriented
- Must have outstanding problem solving skills
- Willing to learn all aspects of a growing diversified family farm and ad value as it continues to grow.
- Must possess the ability to self manage, but also be willing to take direction as well.
- Able to show up for work early or on time as needed.
- Willing to work outdoors in all kinds of weather, even Wisconsin winter.
- Lift 75lbs consistently – 80+ lbs. occasionally
Livestock Operations:
- Lead all aspects of our Certified Organic farm – animal operations, field and cropping, machinery and employees
- Daily feeding, care and observation for all cattle, hogs, and layers and experience to identify issues
- Lead and direct rotational grazing operation
- Oversee Forage and Crop program
- Continue to grow sustainable agriculture program in place
- Provide proper environments for all animals on the farm
- Meet farm production targets
- Maximize herd efficiencies
- Ensure that farm personnel move and handle animals properly
- Follow herd health and biosecurity protocols
Personnel Responsibilities:
- Train, Develop, oversee and evaluate all Farm employees under your lead
- Supporting Farm Owner’s decisions, policies and leadership being provided to all farm personnel.
- Supervise and perform production tasks required in all areas of the farm.
- Assist in recruiting farm personnel.
- Timely give feedback and perform written evaluations of farm personnel.
- Train farm personnel on how to successfully perform all tasks involved with farm management.
Facility responsibilities:
- Ensures barns and facilities are kept clean and organized
- Timely perform routine building and equipment maintenance
- Enlist outside contractor assistance to repair mechanical breakdowns beyond basic maintenance performance and obtain Owner’s pre-approval to complete repair projects of significant cost
- Ensure that work area is kept picked up, clean, neat and orderly
- Assist in keeping offices, supply rooms, and storage areas clean and orderly.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Direct all record keeping required maintaining Certified Organic operations
- Direct all record keeping required maintaining all government required programs.
- Keep Owners timely informed of status of farm productivity and personnel
- Utilize production and financial reports to identify opportunities to improve farm’s productivity and profitability
Other responsibilities:
- Be willing to respond to and adequately handle emergency alarm calls
- Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed by Owners
- Be willing to acquire skills as needed to perform technological advances
