About Us:
Long Future Farms (www.longfuture.farm) is pioneering regenerative agriculture on 446 acres of farmland in Cobleskill, New York. Our agroforestry and silvopasture systems integrate trees, shrubs, and livestock to enhance soil health, sequester carbon, and produce nutritious food.
We’ve planted over 85,000 hazelnut shrubs and 7,500 chestnut trees, and we raise 100% grass-fed & finished cattle alongside pasture-raised chickens. Our humane, responsible grazing practices reflect our commitment to land stewardship and sustainability.

Your Role:
As the Cattle Manager, you’ll play a key role in livestock management, pasture health, and operational expansion. You will work hands-on with cattle and our growing agroforestry system while ensuring our farm thrives economically and ecologically.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily cattle operations, including animal care and rotational grazing
- Implement regenerative agriculture practices to improve soil and pasture health
- Pasture maintenance and reseeding
- Schedule additional help when needed with rotations, feeding, and care protocols
- Practice low-stress animal handling / stockmanship
- Daily moving of the herd through the pastures during the growing season
- Help design and manage farm infrastructure, water systems, fencing, and equipment maintenance
- Buying and selling cattle as needed
- Arranging slaughter and processing with local meat processors
- Schedule trailer hauling
- Assist with basic veterinarian care
- Assist with basic equipment maintenance
- General farm tidying & upkeep
- Engage with visitors, sharing our mission and farm experience
What We’re Looking For:
- Passion for regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming.
- Hands-on experience with livestock management
- Knowledge of rotational grazing and agroforestry systems is a plus.
- Ability to operate and maintain basic farm equipment.
- Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and a love for the outdoors.
Compensation:
- $50,000 to $80,000 based on experience
- Opportunity for profit sharing and/or equity
- Paid vacation and holidays
- While we don’t currently offer healthcare, we are exploring affordable options
