Garden Creek Ranch
Full time position, room and board is included.
This position demands good physical and mental health along with a hard–working, honest, dependable, self-motivated person or couple to act as the caretaker/land management supervisor for our Garden Creek Lodge located in Hells Canyon. This is a Nature Conservancy owned facility that has set rules and outlines on how it can be taken care of. We are looking for someone (s) who can assist in the up keep of the ranch while taking care of a vast amount of day to day traffic from our tour boats and overnight fishing trips. This is a landlocked position.
Essential duties and Responsibilities
Able to handle living in a beautiful secluded ranch house with limited transportation throughout the year. Access road is traveled by 4WD vehicle provided by the ranch. Traveling by this road will be on an “as needed basis.” Main transportation is by jet boat. You will be scheduled to leave and return based on jet boat traffic (2-3 boats daily in the summer; 1-2 boats a week in the winter).
Acknowledgment of a working kitchen such as cooking skills, inventory management, meal planning, and operating BBQ’s/smokers. Supplies are purchased in bulk and stored on site. Precision inventory skills needed to ensure clients and staff are not without supplies/food needed. Fresh staples delivered weekly by jet boat.
Handle cooking and preparations for buffets as big as 150 guests.
Put together breakfast, lunch, and dinners for up 15 overnight guests.
General home maintenance is required.
Lawn maintenance (watering, mowing, moving pipes, and general upkeep) is required.
Responsible for making sure the cabins and main house are kept clean and ready for arriving guest or tour boat traffic. Main Cabin is where the care takers residence is. It also holds 8-10 overnight guests. Guest Cabin sleeps 6-8. Small upper cabin is for one couple only; mainly used by owners.
Set up and clean up for banquets or events.
Handle money and Credit Cards with very little office work.
Run a stocked (small) gift shop during our tour season. Relay messages to office when stock is running low.
Greet every guest with a smile and friendly hello, even when you’re busy.
Requirements
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Competent with Microsoft and google calendar, along with sending and receiving emails.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Has a valid driver’s license.
Has the ability to manage events and activities and a moment’s notice.
Strong Organization skills. Three years’ experience in land management, hotels services or related field.
