Overview:

Implementation of wildlife and habitat management techniques across 6,500 acres of Coastal Prairie that ensure natural resources are sustainable and of optimal habitat for preferred wildlife species.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Take primary responsibility for wildlife and habitat management (harvest, quotas, project implementation, wildlife staff development etc.)
  • Coordinate plans with other Ranch and Wildlife Managers to reach weekly/monthly/annual goals
  • Take lead role planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining waterfowl management projects
  • Take lead role developing coastal fishing operations. This includes all associated equipment maintenance
  • Plan and conduct building upkeep, maintenance, and landscape at Ranch Headquarters
  • Work with other Wildlife Managers to analyze all wildlife data to create reports, recommendations, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to all TPWD regulations.
  • Oversee and manage various employees.
  • Coordinate, prepare, plan, and implement prescribed burn, brush and wildlife management plans
  • Work with industry associations to stay current with wildlife research and apply to ranches as necessary
  • Manage and maintain wildlife water development
  • Conduct wildlife surveys for deer, quail, turkey, waterfowl, and reptiles as needed
  • Plan, fertilize, plant, maintain wildlife/waterfowl food plots and irrigation/water production systems
  • Oversee all waterfowl scouting and data records
  • Complete firearm inventory, upkeep, and maintenance
  • Assist with all other ranch activities as assigned by the Ranch or Wildlife Manager’s to aid in the development process of ranching and wildlife operations

  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Ability to clearly, timely, and effectively communicate and report to Management
  • Willingness to gain experience with mapping software and various computer related work items
  • Must be a team player who works with others toward a common goal
  • Operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
  • Plan, coordinate, and complete various capital projects throughout the year
  • Ability to accurately solve problems
  • Ability to effectively communicate with on and off site employees and contractors

  • Must have knowledge and understanding of basic computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and any other related software

  • Must be a team player, possess excellent communication skills, and have a passion for natural resource management
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing, the ability to be an approved driver for the company and to safely operate vehicles
  • Must have valid Texas hunting license
  • Must have the ability to traverse rough terrain and work independently in harsh conditions

Education Requirements

  • Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in range, wildlife, or a natural resource related field and a minimum of 5 years related experience
