We are looking for a single worker or a couple to maintain and watch over our 5,000-acre high fenced ranch in Freer Texas. The ranch is set up for trophy deer hunting (all native genetics) and there are cattle on the ranch as well. Lodging on the property includes an owner’s house, a large hunting lodge (it hasn’t been used for a while), and a foreman/caretaker’s house. There is also a dove cleaning station, a shop, and a few other general storage buildings at the camp complex.
Responsibilities include:
– Filling corn, protein and milo feeders (we have an Auger for this task)
– Monitoring feed pens around the deer feeders to keep hogs out and trap coons
– Maintaining deer blinds (there are 16 on the property) for wasps and other pests
– Maintaining and fixing water lines on the ranch
– General maintenance on ranch equipment
– Catch and sell cattle using existing catch pens
– Properly cleaning deer during hunting season
Amenities and lodging included with this job:
– 2 Bedroom, 1 bath, kitchen and living room foreman/caretaker’s house. Approx 950 sq feet. Renovated about 1-2 years ago. The person(s) that take this job will need to bring their own furniture and items. The house will be empty.
– Direct TV subscription, rent, electricity, and utilities paid for.
– Ranch owned truck and other vehicles to be used for ranch responsibilities
– Credit card furnished for ranch expenses and supplies (will have to keep all receipts and OK all large expenses with owner beforehand)
Your own responsibilities include:
– Personal vehicle(s) for use outside the ranch and gas for that vehicle(s)
– Your own furniture and home decorations for the foreman/caretaker’s house mentioned above
– Your own food, water, etc.
Compensation and benefits:
– Starting salary is $25,000 per year if we have to pay for your insurance, $30,000 if you already have insurance. This is a starting number and will increase if everything works out. This number is what will be paid whether we hire one person or a couple.
