1911 Cattle Company is offering an exciting learning opportunity for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in a 1,500-acre ranch located in Bryan, Texas, with a particular focus on rotational grazing, fencing, land stewardship, and regenerative agriculture practices. This internship is perfect for those who enjoy physical and outdoor work, problem-solving, and working independently, all while contributing to the daily operations of a regenerative cattle ranch.

As an intern, you will work closely with the ranch manager and team to implement grazing plans, monitor the performance of the herd, identify diseases in the animals, and maintain records such as calving, rotation, and other vital data from the herd, which is essential for livestock management, land health, and regenerative agriculture. 1911 Cattle Company is a farm-to-fork, and cow/calf operation committed to sustainable and regenerative ranching practices, where adaptive multi-paddock grazing plays a crucial role in improving soil health, enhancing biodiversity, and reducing environmental impact. Fencing and effective herd management are integral to ensuring successful grazing rotations that benefit both livestock and the land.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Herd Management: Assist in supervising and managing grazing herds, ensuring they are rotated through paddocks to support soil regeneration and prevent overgrazing.
  • Feeding, maintaining herd health, and monitoring for signs of illness or injury.
  • Regenerative Agriculture Tasks: Learn and assist with practices aimed at improving soil health, water retention, and pasture management through responsible grazing practices.
  • Managing the feeding and care of a +120-head cattle herd, ensuring their well-being throughout the seasons.
  • Breeding & Calving Records: Recording and reporting breeding, calving, and inventory movement to the office.
  • Maintenance: Maintaining and cleaning ranch facilities and equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Equipment and Vehicles: Operating and maintaining heavy equipment for various projects, including grounds, fences, and trails upkeep.
  • Projects: Assist in creating new projects.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of cattle, with a strong interest in regenerative agriculture and sustainable land management.
  • Experience operating ranch equipment and vehicles (ATVs, pickups, etc.).
Physically able to perform ranch work in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, and wind.
  • Basic computer knowledge and proficiency with Word and Email.
  • Prior experience in ranch work, fencing, or outdoor labor is a plus but not required.
  • A strong desire to work, self-motivation, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a positive attitude and strong observational skills.
  • Experience driving tractors, pulling trailers, using small machinery, and driving manual transmissions is preferred but not mandatory. You will be expected to learn these skills during the internship.

1911 Cattle Company values the importance of regenerative ranching practices in improving the land for future generations. As part of this internship, you will gain firsthand knowledge of how to manage grazing herds in a way that benefits the environment, enhances pasture productivity, and supports sustainable beef production.

If you’re passionate about working outdoors, contributing to the land’s health, and learning the ins and outs of a regenerative cattle ranch, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
