Happyland Ranch is looking for a skilled and dedicated Farm Maintenance and Groundskeeping Specialist to help maintain and improve the ranch’s infrastructure, equipment, and landscape. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has strong mechanical and handyman skills, and takes pride in maintaining a beautiful and functional farm environment.

Happyland Ranch is in the initial stages of transforming from a traditional cattle ranch into a holistically-managed multi-species planned grazing operation. Set on nearly 900 acres in Southeastern Oklahoma, Happyland Ranch is home to cattle and horses with plans to add sheep and goats in the near future. In addition to the regenerative agriculture operation, Happyland Ranch regularly hosts corporate retreats and off-sites. In 2025, we plan to construct a greenhouse and garden to facilitate farm-to-table meals for our events. This role will be instrumental in the setup and management of the garden and greenhouse, as well as maintaining and up-keeping facilities.

Additionally, the ideal candidate has experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, and heavy equipment operation and maintenance. This role requires a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.

We are also open to hiring couples, with additional work available in hospitality roles such as cooking, cleaning, and guest services.

Housing is not provided, but our ranch is located only 10 minutes outside of Ada, OK where there is an abundance of housing options.

Key Responsibilities:

Garden, Landscaping & Grounds Management:

  • Maintain the overall appearance of the ranch, including lawn care (mowing, edging, weed control, brush clearing, etc.).
  • Manage and maintain flower beds, gardens, orchards, and tree health through planting, pruning, and seasonal upkeep. Oversee the care and productivity of the vegetable garden and greenhouse, ensuring year-round production and sustainability.
  • Assist in land clearing, tree trimming, and removal as necessary.
  • Maintain ranch roads, trails, and fences to ensure accessibility and security.

Equipment & Infrastructure Maintenance:

  • Operate, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, including tractors, skid steers, and bulldozers.
  • Perform regular servicing and repairs on farm equipment and vehicles.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on ranch buildings, barns, and infrastructure.
  • Complete basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as needed for property upkeep.
  • Manage irrigation systems and troubleshoot water distribution issues.

Construction & Handyman Projects:

  • Assist in small construction projects such as building fences, sheds, and other farm structures.
  • Conduct repairs on buildings, gates, and farm enclosures.
  • Provide general handyman support around the property.

Animal Care & Support:

  • While this role does not focus on livestock management, a basic understanding of cattle, horses, sheep, goats, chickens, and bees is a plus.
  • Support the ranch team with occasional livestock handling and enclosure maintenance.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements for ranch maintenance and operations.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are properly stored and maintained.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure a secure working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in gardening and groundskeeping.
  • Strong mechanical skills with the ability to maintain and repair farm equipment.
  • Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (tractors, skid steers, bulldozers, etc.).
  • Experience in construction, carpentry, plumbing, and general handyman work.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of farm animals and livestock management is a plus.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus for better communication with potential ranch staff.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience, with long-term potential for those looking to make the ranch their forever home.
  • Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and other perks to support a stable and fulfilling lifestyle on the ranch.
  • The opportunity to work in a scenic and rewarding environment at a ranch focused on regenerative agriculture.
  • Room for growth and additional responsibilities based on skills and performance.
  • A dynamic and hands-on work environment where every day brings new challenges and projects.

This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about hands-on work and contributing to the success of a ranch with a vision for sustainable land management. If you have the experience and dedication to take on this role, we’d love to hear from you!
