Operations Manager

Wanda Farms is a new first generation farm with a big vision to feed 10,000 families a healthier meal by 2030. We currently produce grass-fed beef, pastured chicken, pork, and eggs on our 150 acre regenerative farm.

Below you will find an overview for this role. This is a full time position year round. This individual must have already had experience managing an operation, keen eye for detail and general knowledge of the different cuts of meat, shipping, warehouse management, and customer service. This individual will in a sense be responsible for knowing the ins and outs of the business from the time the animal is dropped off at the processor to the time the order arrives at the customer’s home. The ideal candidate will develop into becoming our “director of operations” as their knowledge and experience grows.

  • Keep the warehouse organized and operating smoothly with SOP’s

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to improve business efforts.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Manage all incoming orders, pick/packing process, payments, and delivery to customers home.
  • Manage all customer service inquiries. Respond to support emails, customer calls, and other support ticket requests until we hire a select individual to handle the customer service.
  • Create and manage routes for our delivery driver to complete the local deliveries.
  • Hire and manage all new and existing employees that work in the warehouse
  • Manage/schedule the egg processing schedule by training and hiring necessary employees to complete this job.
  • Manage the self serve farm store (inventory, cash box, etc)
  • Manage the cleanliness, maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the warehouse, farmstore, freezers, and delivery vehicles.
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing inventories of meat products, packaging materials, and other inventoried products in our warehouse
  • Schedule processing dates with livestock production team for beef, pork, and poultry based on animals ready dates.
  • Monitor inventory usage and project future inventory needs and plan processing dates accordingly.
  • Communicate with all meat processors on cut selections.
  • Manage all vendor relationships: meat processors, product suppliers, packaging materials, courier partners, special suppliers etc.
  • Research and negotiate rates with vendors (i.e. Packaging, courier cost)
  • Develop and manage KPIs alongside the owner for your key areas of responsibility.
  • Regularly manage the P&L with the leadership team to find new ways to cut cost, increase revenue, and improve profitability of the business.
  • Regularly meet with the leadership team to discuss future business goals.
  • Managing the back end of the Grazecart website platform is a must. Keep all orders organized and up to date. Manage individual products for proper reporting. (In sense become an expert on the backend of GC platform)
  • Develop and create system/SOP’s needed for the warehouse to operate efficiently and smoothly

Requirements & Skill Sets:

  • Ability to work in a highly motivated and collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient technical and computer skills.
  • Must enjoy working with Excel/google sheets and have experience with this program to keep staff, yourself and others organized.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Love to stay organized.
  • Ability to use deductive reasoning.
  • Must be able to problem solve issues independently when they arise.
  • Willingness to report to owners.
  • Willingness to take responsibility for work performed, oversights, and areas of
  • improvement.
  • Strong ability to communicate with the team effectively (both verbally and written).
  • A learning spirit. This position will require proficiency in several order management systems. Therefore, a quick learner is a must.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to drive and operate a large van.
  • Must be able to lift heavy boxes (up to 60 lbs at times).

You must be able to manage your department as if it’s your own. That means manage employees effectively, but also be willing to jump in and get dirty when needed. No task is too low for your job description.

Expected Work:

  • Monday thru Friday 7am to 5pm. (occasional weekends)
  • Work from home select days may be an option

Compensation:

  • Negotiable
  • Monthly KPI Bonus
  • $3,000 yearly food credit ($1.5/hour)
  • 1 week paid vacation

  • Be a team player in achieving our farm’s goals
  • Streamline our orders picking, packing, and delivery process for efficiency and accuracy with written SOP’s to easily train new employees.
  • Find ways to reduce our packaging, shipping, and other costs
  • Research and help solve our ongoing freezer space problem – search for a cold storage rental space nearby.
  • Find a Seafood partnership, lamb, and other meat products to increase our product offerings
  • Develop systems for managing inventories and projecting future needs
  • Be a part of implementing a subscription program
